Here in the frozen North (i.e. South West Ontario, which is probably comparable in latitude to Lisbon), I am informed by the locals that a 'double double' is a kind of caffeinated beverage, involving extra cream and extra sugar, widely available at Tim Horton's, the local version of Starbucks.
One can also live dangerously and ask for a triple triple.
Tim Horton was a hockey player, but I don't know what team he played for.

A double-double is also the best item on the menu of the best fast food restaurant ever, In-N-Out Burger. It's two beef patties with two slices of cheese. My personal preference is a double-double done animal style.

I went to the In-N-Out Burger site and promptly horked up the three slices of watermelon I just ate while sitting on the porch. PEASE, PEASE don't eat that anymore, John. *horking again at the thought*

Dude, what did you expect from a site about In-N-Out Burger? I love a good falafel, and I do minimize my meat intake for ecological reasons. But quit entirely? You'll have to pry that cheeseburger from my cold, dead hands :-)

*worry that John was eating himself into an early grave subsiding...calming down a little...still feeling the need for some rocker time on the porch...*

The photo of animal style fries reminds me of some traumatic moments in elementary school. It's like poutine's evil twin.

From Wikipedia:
A double-double is a basketball term, defined as an individual performance in a game in which a player accumulates a double digit number in any two of these categories: points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocked shots. The most common double-double is a combination of points and rebounds, and then next is points and assists.
Quote:
Chris Bosh, who had 21 points and 10 rebounds, recorded his eighth consecutive double-double for the Raptors, who lost their second game in a row. It was Bosh's 40th double-double of the season."
